The Google Assistant is a virtual personal assistant developed by Google that is primarily available on mobile and smart home devices. I worked as a researcher on Google Assistant team, supporting various teams, projects, and surfaces. Below are some examples of publicly known products that I worked on.

Google Assistant on Bose headphones

Google and Bose partnered to create a new version of the Bose noise cancelling headphones, adding a dedicated button on the headphones that triggers the Google Assistant.

Prior to launch, I researched the out-of-box experience for new users, and the usability and discoverability of tutorials covering the basic controls for the product.

Google Home

A popular surface for Google Assistant is Google Home, a speaker that enables users to use voice commands to interact with services. Users can interact with Google and third-party services to listen to music, control video and photo playback, receive news updates, and control smart home appliances. I completed a Google Home lab study to determine if users understand how edit and access the reminders they setup.

Routines

At Made By Google event in 2017, routines feature for Assistant was announced. Routines will allow the users to take multiple actions at once. I ran a study to determine the interest level in this feature, and usability of setup and editing routines. Additionally, I designed, ran, and analyzed a survey related to this feature.

Google Assistant on Smart Display

Google announced a new Assistant product at CES 2018- third party manufactured smart-displays. I worked on series of studies on this product to help product teams make design and navigation decisions pre-launch.
